This week we’d like to shine a spotlight on our partner the Army Family Readiness Group, or Army FRG. This organization is important to the Live Love Serve Foundation because it is important to one of our own CBI family members, Kylee Salas. Kylee is a project manager in our Charlotte office and is also the secretary for Army FRG units – the Bravo company 4th – 118th in Gaffney, SC.
The responsibility of the FRG is to keep families informed and supported during their spouse or family member’s time with a unit, most commonly during deployment. The FRG serves as an extension of the unit Commander and passes down critical information from units to family members. Essentially, they provide the bridge of communication between a unit and a deployed soldier’s family.
Other support the Army FRG provides includes:
1. Distributing relevant command information to family members of the unit.
2. Connecting families to and advocating for community resources available for them.
3. Solving problems that may arise because a spouse or family member is deployed.
4. Ensuring families feel resilient, connected and part of a community when their loved one is deployed.
In addition to providing a support system, the Army FRG regularly hosts events for families and soldiers to tighten the community and provide opportunities to gather and socialize. They also organize meetings each month to keep family members informed and updated throughout critical times.
How the Live Love Serve Foundation Partners with the Army FRG
The Live Love Serve Foundation and CBI Workplace Solutions came together last year to sponsor a fundraiser that would allow the Army FRG to send holiday boxes to deployed soldiers from the unit. Initially the goal was to fundraise just enough to provide gifts and personal items to fill boxes for the 65 soldiers that were currently deployed. In true “live, love, serve” fashion, CBI associates rallied together, exceeding the original fundraising goal and raising moer than $42,000 for the Army FRG. This money helped with the organization of local events for the FRG and allowed gift boxes to be sent to deployed soldiers well into 2020.
We love our partnership with the Army FRG and look forward to supporting them even more this year. Learn more about them and their cause by visiting the Army FRG website.
